  • Extension spindle shafts are manufactured from mild steel round bar or mild steel C.H.S. tube.

25 mm mild steel round bar is normally used on standard extension spindles up to 2.5 metres overall length.

For longer spindles, 48.3 mm diameter. X 3.2 mm C.H.S. is recommended.

    LIFT SIZE REQUIRED

  • Extension spindles are normally supplied with a cast steel male spigot at one end of the spindle and a cast steel female socket at the other end of the spindle. The spigots and sockets are pinned to the extension shaft using an 8mm hardened and ground steel dowel, (as details B & C). The spigot or socket is then 6mm fillet-welded to the extension spindle (round bar or tube).
Standard male spigots and female sockets are produced to suit 35mm AF Caps to B.S.5163.

Standard female sockets drilled and threaded to suit 10mm diameter z/p lock screw.

Extension spindles requiring a 48mm AF female socket for 450mm valves etc. can be produced to suit your specification. The lift size as shown on sketch A will be taken from top of valve cap to top of spigot unless otherwise specified by the customer on the official order. Standard extension spindles finished ‘Hammerite’ blue or galvanised as required.
